ISTANBUL – Two young activists were detained before the NATO Parliamentary Summit at Dolmabahçe Palace. Dilan Köse and Hejar Al spoke to our journalist about their arrest, their reasons for protesting the alliance, and how socialist youth view today’s political climate.
“Everywhere socialists stand must become a resistance zone,” the detainees said, explaining their call for widespread opposition to NATO policies. They described their detention as part of a broader crackdown on dissent ahead of the high-level meeting.
The pair criticized NATO’s role in global conflicts and urged young people to organize against military alliances. Their arrest highlights ongoing tensions between Turkish authorities and leftist groups during international summits.
