Chancellor Friedrich Merz warned that the war in Ukraine has entered its most decisive period. He promised to keep German military aid flowing to Kyiv.
Merz rejected growing calls from the right-wing AfD party and other populist groups to cut off support. "We will not abandon Ukraine," he said.
The AfD has gained support by arguing that Germany should focus on its own problems. Merz dismissed this position, saying that a Russian victory would put all of Europe at risk.
