A 97-year-old woman was pulled to safety from flash floods in Nepal after being lifted out of the danger zone with an excavator.
Guna Maya Bohara was rescued as rising waters swept through her village. Footage of the operation shows the elderly woman seated in the machine’s bucket, held steady by a rescuer as it moved her to dry ground.
Local officials described her as looking “like a warrior” during the ordeal. Bohara survived the sudden flooding that struck the region, though the full scale of the disaster is still being assessed.
The rescue has drawn attention for its unusual method, with the excavator repurposed as a life-saving tool. Bohara’s family confirmed she is safe and in good condition.
