A major new undersea internet cable has officially started commercial operations. The SEA-H2X cable, which stands for Southeast Asia-Hainan-Hong Kong, began service on July 22. It was led and funded by China Mobile.
The cable connects key regions in Southeast Asia with China’s Hainan province and Hong Kong. This project aims to improve internet speed and reliability for millions of users. By providing a direct data link, it reduces reliance on older, longer cable routes.
The launch marks a significant step in expanding digital connectivity across Asia. The cable is expected to support growing demand for data from businesses, streaming services, and cloud computing.
