Fresh violence has erupted in the Middle East, breaking a recent period of relative calm. Lebanon reported that 47 people were killed in a series of strikes. Israel, in turn, confirmed the deaths of four of its soldiers.
This is the worst outbreak of fighting since a US-brokered deal with Iran. That agreement was meant to halt the wider regional war and was also expected to pause the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon.
