Despite the start of US-Iran talks in Switzerland today, Iran has kept the Strait of Hormuz closed. Tehran accuses Israel of breaking the ceasefire by continuing strikes on Lebanon. The closure has major effects on the global economy. But it also traps thousands of sailors on ships in the middle of an active conflict zone. To understand how they are coping, FRANCE 24 spoke to Phil Belcher, marine director at the International Association of Independent Tanker Owners (Intertanko). He described crews dodging drones and rationing food as they wait for a resolution.
