Deadly Train Derailment in Southern Mexico

A major passenger train derailment in southern Mexico has left at least 13 people dead and nearly 100 injured, according to authorities. The incident occurred over the weekend on a popular tourist route, prompting a large-scale emergency response.

The accident involved an Interoceanic Train carrying 250 people, including 241 passengers and nine crew members [36627]. It derailed near the town of Nizanda in the state of Oaxaca as it rounded a bend [36599]. Several cars left the tracks, leading to a significant rescue operation.

Emergency teams deployed 360 naval personnel, 20 vehicles, and multiple air and ground ambulances to the remote site [36713].
