Former U.S. President Donald Trump has issued a stark new warning to Iran, stating "the big one is coming." He also refused to rule out sending American ground troops into the country if he wins the November election.
In a recent interview, Trump was asked directly if he would deploy "boots on the ground" – a military term for soldiers in combat – in Iran. He replied, "I wouldn’t rule that out."
His comments were supported by Pete Hegseth, Trump's choice for Secretary of War. Hegseth criticized Western allies who express alarm, calling them "pearl-clutching." This phrase describes people who are overly shocked or fearful.
Hegseth argued the current situation is different from the 2003 Iraq War. He stated America would not get trapped in a long, costly conflict. "We’re not caught in an Iraq War 2.0," he said.
The warnings mark a significant escalation in rhetoric. They come amid ongoing tensions over Iran's nuclear program and its support for militant groups across the Middle East.
