Dutch Court Jails Eritrean Smuggler for 20 Years in Record Case

A Dutch court has sentenced an Eritrean man to 20 years in prison. He was convicted for smuggling migrants in the largest case of its kind ever seen in the Netherlands. The man, identified only as Amanuel W., was sentenced on Tuesday. The court found him guilty of running a major smuggling operation. Prosecutors said his network illegally moved people from Eritrea, a country in East Africa, into Europe. The severe sentence reflects the scale of his crimes. This case is not over. More suspects linked to the same smuggling network are scheduled to appear in court later this year.
