Iran's Revolutionary Guard (IRGC) said two tankers struck mines in the Strait of Hormuz after "violating" its rules, while U.S. forces disabled a vessel in the Gulf of Oman.
The IRGC did not say when the incidents took place or identify the tankers. It described the ships as "violating" — a term it uses for vessels it says entered its waters without permission.
Separately, U.S. forces disabled a vessel in the Gulf of Oman. Officials gave no immediate details on the ship or the reason for the action.
The Strait of Hormuz is a narrow waterway through which about one-fifth of the world's oil passes. Tensions there have repeatedly disrupted shipping in recent years.
It was not clear whether the two reports referred to the same vessel or to separate incidents.
