Journalist Carlos del Castillo has published a new book, "Artificial Intelligence: Mapping a Revolution," and shared his concerns in an interview with the podcast *Un tema Al día*.
His central warning is simple: humans are easily fooled. "Our brains are hacked by something that is not intelligent, but that talks," he said. People naturally trust a machine that speaks like a person, even when it cannot think.
Despite this risk, del Castillo remains optimistic about the technology. He uses AI daily and calls it a "cognitive crutch." In his view, the real power of AI is not the content it creates, but how it expands human thinking. "You can pour any idea into it, any small connection you have made, and connect that thought with others or with any part of reality," he explained.
The interview is the third in a series of special episodes from *Un tema Al día*, the daily podcast from elDiario.es with more than one million monthly listeners. The full episode is available for free on Amazon Music, with new interviews released every 15 days. Previous guests include journalist Inés Hernand, and the series opened with a live show at Madrid's Lope de Vega theater before an audience of more than 1,300 people.
