China to Iran: Talk, Don't Fight

China's top diplomat renewed his call for a political solution to Middle East conflicts on Monday, telling a senior Iranian official in Beijing that armed conflict is not the way out. "Dialogue and negotiation remain the only viable path forward" as conflicts in the region drag on and risk further spillover, Foreign Minister Wang Yi told Ali Bagheri Kani, deputy secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council. Wang urged all parties to pursue a political settlement "in a rational" manner, according to the readout of the meeting.
