MONTGOMERY — The U.S. Justice Department has filed a fraud lawsuit against a leading civil rights group in the middle of the country’s key midterm elections.
The group, the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), is based in Montgomery, Alabama, and is known for fighting racial discrimination.
“It is a pattern with Trump to attack those who fight racial discrimination,” said Dana Vandiver, head of the SPLC in Montgomery.
