Brazil's Election on a Knife's Edge: Bolsonaro and Lula Locked in Dead Heat
Senator Flávio Bolsonaro and President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva are entering the final days of the October 25 runoff in a statistical tie, according to two new polls. A Datafolha survey released Thursday night shows Bolsonaro with 51% of valid votes and Lula with 49%, compared to 52% and 48% a week earlier. The poll has a margin of error of two points. Both surveys were conducted before the Senate approved a cut in the working week from 44 to 40 hours on Wednesday—one of the flagship proposals of Lula's campaign.
