Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he will hold elections if Russian President Vladimir Putin agrees to a 60-day ceasefire.
Zelenskyy noted that wartime elections face serious security concerns. Voting during active conflict is dangerous for citizens and election workers.
He also cited constitutional restrictions. Ukraine's constitution limits how elections can be held under martial law.
The proposal places the decision in Putin's hands. If Russia agrees to the ceasefire, Ukraine would move forward with elections. If not, the restrictions remain.
