A senior military and tribal delegation from Sudan's paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) arrived in the Nuba Mountains last Tuesday. The team is there to mediate deadly internal clashes between the Sudan People's Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) and local fighters from the Atoro community.
The fighting is reportedly linked to gold in the Kauda area and the Blue Nile region. Control over gold mines has become a major source of conflict across Sudan.
