Cheap Drone Destroys 2 Tons of Russian Explosives
A Ukrainian drone pilot has called it his proudest strike: a small, low-cost FPV drone detonating over two tons of explosives packed inside a Russian mine-clearing vehicle. The pilot, known by the call sign "Skipper," commands an FPV company in Ukraine's 413th Raid Unmanned Systems Regiment. He described the destruction of a Russian UR-77, a tracked vehicle designed to clear minefields by firing explosive charges. FPV drones — "first-person view" aircraft — are cheap, camera-equipped quadcopters that pilots steer in real time through video goggles. Ukraine has used them widely to destroy armored vehicles worth far more than the drones themselves. The UR-77 carries a large explosive charge, making its destruction especially significant.
