EU weighs offshore return hubs to curb irregular migration
European Union ministers are discussing new measures to reduce irregular migration. The proposals include setting up "return hubs" outside the EU. These are centers where migrants who are denied asylum could be sent before being returned to their home countries. The plans also call for strengthening Frontex, the EU's border agency. Greece has proposed temporarily suspending asylum applications during emergency situations.
