Ukraine's Defense Ministry cleared 1,347 hectares of land in September, according to the ministry. The land was recovered from Russian occupation.
Hectares measure area. One hectare equals 10,000 square meters, or about the size of a standard sports field.
The cleared area is a small share of Ukraine's contaminated territory. Demining experts consider Ukraine the world's most mined country, with roughly 132,000 square kilometers affected — an area larger than England.
The ministry says it now has a new plan to address the remaining land.
