A second federal judge has blocked President Donald Trump’s administration from enforcing a new US Postal Service (USPS) rule that would tighten mail-in voting requirements.
US District Judge Carl Nichols, based in Washington, issued the ruling late Sunday. The decision adds another legal obstacle for the administration as it tries to put the rule into effect.
The US Supreme Court is still reviewing the administration’s request to overturn a separate order that also blocks the rule.
The legal fight comes as Trump’s Republicans battle to keep control of both houses of Congress in the November 3 midterm elections.
