Saudi Arabia Halts Key Oil Pipeline After Drone Attack From Iraq

Saudi Arabia said Friday that drones launched from Iraq forced the temporary shutdown of a major oil export route. The East-West pipeline carries oil across the country to the Red Sea, allowing Saudi Arabia to avoid the Strait of Hormuz. Iran has closed the strait, a vital waterway for global oil shipments, since the Middle East war began. Riyadh has relied more on the pipeline since the war started. The route runs from Abqaiq, near the Gulf, to the port of Yanbu on the Red Sea.
