Germany accuses Russia of drone attack on airport

The German government on Tuesday blamed Russia for an attempted drone attack at Leipzig/Halle Airport last month, saying the device was packed with explosives and found near a Ukrainian aircraft. The drone was discovered on the evening of August 4 and was defused by security teams. German officials said at the time that the incident represented a new level of threat. In response, Berlin announced it would close a Russian consulate and take additional measures against Moscow. Western officials have repeatedly accused Russia of running a campaign of sabotage and disruption across Europe.
