Egypt, Qatar push for calm in Strait of Hormuz

Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty met Qatar’s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani in Cairo on Thursday. The two officials discussed bilateral cooperation and ways to reduce regional tensions, with a focus on the Strait of Hormuz. Both sides stressed the need for dialogue to avoid further escalation in the strategic waterway, through which a large share of global oil shipments pass. No specific proposals or outcomes from the talks were announced.
