Syria and Russia have agreed to end Moscow’s military use of two strategic Mediterranean bases, Syria’s foreign ministry said on Sunday. Under the deal, Damascus will take control of the Hmeimem air base and part of the Tartous port. The remaining military facilities at both sites will be converted into joint training centres.
