Türkiye wins stake in Kirkuk oil field in landmark Iraq deal

Turkish state oil company Turkish Petroleum has been granted a partnership in the Kirkuk oil production field, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced on Thursday.
Erdogan called the agreement a “historic step” in bilateral energy cooperation between Türkiye and Iraq. The deal secures Türkiye a direct stake in one of Iraq’s most significant oil fields, marking a major shift in regional energy dynamics.
The partnership is expected to strengthen economic ties and provide Türkiye with greater access to Iraqi crude. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
