Türkiye has expanded its overseas energy footprint by joining a major oil project in Kirkuk, Iraq. The project covers some of Iraq’s largest oil fields and contains more than 3 billion barrels of oil equivalent resources.
The move strengthens Türkiye’s role in the region’s energy sector. It also gives the country access to significant crude reserves outside its borders. The deal is part of Ankara’s broader strategy to secure energy supplies and increase its influence in the Middle East.
