4 migrants dead, 20 missing in swim attempt to reach Spanish enclave

Over 200 people tried to swim from Morocco to the Spanish city of Ceuta over the weekend. Four bodies were found, and at least 20 migrants are missing. Most of the migrants are Moroccan and Algerian. They entered the water from the Moroccan coasts of Castillejos and Beliones. Spanish police say more than 100 migrants successfully reached Ceuta. The rest were stopped by Moroccan police. The migrant detention center in Ceuta is full. All 512 beds are taken. Over 100 people now wait outside the center, hoping to get in. The Spanish Civil Guard found one body on Saturday and three more on Sunday. This brings the total number of migrant bodies found on Ceuta’s coast this year to 27. Police sources say the increase is linked to a recent Supreme Court ruling. The ruling bans the immediate return of migrants who enter the water. The local government of Ceuta has asked for an urgent change to Spain’s immigration law.
