Two Children Dead, 15 Rescued After Ferry Sinks in Eastern Syria

A ferry carrying civilians, including women and children, sank in the Euphrates River near Deir ez-Zor early Sunday morning. The Syrian Civil Defense confirmed that two children died, and rescue teams saved 15 passengers. The accident occurred after the ferry collided with a temporary floating military bridge. The impact threw passengers into the water. Search operations are ongoing for missing individuals, the Civil Defense reported on its Telegram channel. The ferry was transporting a number of civilians when the crash happened. Authorities have not yet released the total number of people on board.
