Two Children Dead, 15 Rescued After Ferry Sinks in Eastern Syria

A ferry carrying civilians, including women and children, sank in the Euphrates River near Deir ez-Zor early Sunday morning. The Syrian Civil Defense confirmed that two children died, and rescue teams saved 15 passengers.
The accident occurred after the ferry collided with a temporary floating military bridge. The impact threw passengers into the water. Search operations are ongoing for missing individuals, the Civil Defense reported on its Telegram channel.
The ferry was transporting a number of civilians when the crash happened. Authorities have not yet released the total number of people on board. Rescue efforts continue as teams search the river for any remaining missing persons.
