Ukraine has turned air defense into a laboratory of innovation. Its crews now use single-shot intercepts—firing one Patriot missile per target instead of the usual two—to save ammo. They also deploy decoys that cost $30,000 each to trick Russian missiles. And Ukrainian soldiers are even training military personnel from Gulf states in these new tactics.
But these breakthroughs are not enough. Ukraine is still losing the race against Russia's missile supply. The country is running out of Patriot interceptors faster than allies can send replacements. Without a steady flow of missiles, even the smartest tactics cannot stop the barrage.
