PARIS. A French appeals court will decide Tuesday whether Marine Le Pen can run in next year’s presidential election. The ruling is expected to be a turning point in French politics.
If the court upholds last year’s harsh sentence, Le Pen would be barred from the ballot. In that case, 30-year-old Jordan Bardella is ready to step in as the party’s presidential candidate. However, Bardella is also under investigation for suspected embezzlement.
