Police stated the woman was a suspect in an alleged child theft case. The mob overpowered officers, dragged her from the station, and lynched her. The victim’s name has not been released.
Child theft accusations often trigger mob violence in parts of Nigeria, despite frequent police warnings against taking the law into one’s own hands. Authorities are investigating the incident.
