Ukraine’s Defense Ministry has officially approved a new domestic robot for battlefield use. The vehicle, called the NEO-1, is a 60-kilogram modular ground platform. It can switch between two main jobs: demining and logistics.
The robot is designed to clear land mines. Ukraine currently has 460,000 hectares of mined territory. The NEO-1 helps sappers—soldiers who remove explosives—work from a safe distance.
The same chassis can also carry supplies, making it a flexible tool for troops. This dual-use design saves time and resources. The robot is remote-controlled, reducing risk to human life.
Officials say the NEO-1 is now codified, meaning it meets military standards for field use. The move is part of Ukraine’s effort to speed up mine clearance and support its forces with advanced, cost-effective technology.
