The Pentagon has added Chinese tech giants Alibaba, Baidu, and carmaker BYD to a blacklist of companies with alleged military ties, widening the competition between the world’s two largest economies.
The updated list, known as the 1260H list, also includes drug maker WuXi AppTec, robot company Unitree, and electric carmaker Nio, according to a US Department of Defence notice. The annual update removed some Chinese companies that no longer operate in the United States.
The blacklist identifies firms the Pentagon believes have links to China’s military. While the designation does not impose immediate bans, it signals increased scrutiny and can damage business relationships.
