The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has overturned the result of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final. Its appeals board ruled that Senegal must forfeit the match.
Senegal originally won the final 1-0 after extra time. The ruling changes that result to a 3-0 default victory for host nation Morocco.
CAF stated Senegal "is declared to have forfeited the final." No specific reason for the forfeit was given in the immediate announcement.
Morocco is now the official 2025 AFCON champion. This decision by football's governing body in Africa is unprecedented for a tournament final.
