Security officials in Nigeria report progress in the operation to rescue more than 300 students and teachers abducted from a school. The incident occurred at St. Mary’s School, a Catholic institution in north-central Niger state.
Gunmen attacked the school and kidnapped the victims. The Christian Association of Nigeria provided an updated figure on Saturday. It confirmed that 303 schoolchildren and 12 teachers were taken, revising an earlier count of 215 students.
Authorities are continuing their efforts to secure the release of all those abducted.
