From Rickshaw Driver to Radio DJ: A Tokyo Woman's Unique Journey

A Tokyo rickshaw driver has achieved her dream of becoming a radio DJ, a goal she originally pursued the physically demanding job to accomplish. Arisa Sekimori, 29, wanted to improve her public speaking skills and believed that talking with tourists would provide the perfect practice. She has now been a rickshaw driver in Tokyo's historic Asakusa district for eight years. Sekimori is a pioneer among a growing number of female rickshaw drivers in the area. Her success recently led to a promotion, making her her company's first female manager. Sekimori balances her two careers by driving a rickshaw for four days each week. She spends her remaining working days as a DJ at a local radio station, a role she secured thanks to the confidence and communication skills she developed on the job.
