The CEO of financial giant Cantor Fitzgerald has agreed to speak with a U.S. congressional committee. The panel is investigating the contacts that wealthy and powerful individuals had with the convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Howard Lutnick will give a voluntary interview to the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability. A committee spokesperson confirmed the news.
The investigation aims to uncover the extent of Epstein's network. Epstein was a financier who was convicted of sex crimes in 2008. He died in jail in 2019 while awaiting trial on new charges.
Lutnick is a prominent figure on Wall Street. His cooperation is seen as a significant step for the probe. The committee has also sought interviews and documents from other business leaders and bankers linked to Epstein.
