Israeli forces moved into southern Lebanon on Tuesday, warning residents of over 80 villages to leave. The escalation follows intense Israeli airstrikes that Lebanese authorities say have killed 40 people and wounded 250 in just two days.
The Lebanese government reports more than 58,000 people have been displaced. The Iran-backed militant group Hezbollah stated it is prepared for an "open war" with Israel.
The cross-border fighting marks a major expansion of the conflict, directly drawing Lebanon into the wider regional tensions between Israel, Iran, and the United States.
