President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has stated he believes his predecessor, Jair Bolsonaro, will eventually go to prison. Lula made the comment while defending the independence of Brazil’s judiciary from international criticism.
The statement came after former U.S. President Donald Trump questioned the fairness of Brazil’s courts. Lula rejected this criticism, asserting that Brazilian institutions operate freely. He emphasized that the country's courts make their own decisions.
Lula did not specify which legal cases might lead to Bolsonaro's imprisonment. Bolsonaro faces multiple ongoing investigations and has already received a temporary ban from holding public office. The former president denies any wrongdoing.
