Uganda Feels Mounting Effects of Climate Change

A new report confirms that severe weather events linked to climate change are now a reality across Uganda. The findings explain the increasing frequency of disruptive floods in cities like Kampala and agricultural losses from prolonged droughts. These impacts, which also include landslides and cyclones, are affecting countries throughout Eastern Africa. The rising cost of staple foods, such as matooke, is a direct consequence for many Ugandans. The data comes from the recently launched Uganda Country Climate and Development Report (CCDR). The World Bank Group prepared the report in collaboration with the Ugandan government and other partners.
