Seven runners remain without their personal belongings following a major baggage system failure at the Kerry Hong Kong Streetathon. The event's organizer, RunOurCity, has blamed the chaos on a Wi-Fi network breakdown.
After the race, thousands of participants had to search through piles of bags for hours to find their possessions. The new digital system intended to manage baggage collection failed due to the poor internet connection.
Andes Leung Pak-hang, CEO of RunOurCity, publicly apologized for the situation on Monday. He explained that the organizing team had implemented new technology this year in an effort to operate more quickly.
