Denmark has refused a U.S. offer to send a hospital ship to Greenland. The offer came from former U.S. President Donald Trump, who has previously expressed interest in buying the Arctic island.
Trump suggested Greenlanders were "not being taken care of" medically. Denmark's defense minister firmly rejected that claim.
"The Greenlandic population receives the healthcare it needs," said Troels Lund Poulsen. He explained that care is provided in Greenland or, for specialized treatment, in Denmark.
Poulsen stated there is no need for a special foreign healthcare initiative. Greenland is a large, autonomous territory that governs itself but relies on Denmark for defense and foreign policy.
