Gunmen have abducted more than 315 students and teachers from a school in central Nigeria. The attack is one of the country's largest mass kidnappings.
Assailants raided St Mary's co-education school in Niger state early Friday. The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) confirmed the new, higher number of victims on Saturday. The group had initially reported 227 people were seized.
This incident follows another school attack earlier in the week. On Monday, gunmen stormed a secondary school in the neighboring Kebbi state and kidnapped 25 girls.
The kidnappings highlight a deepening security crisis in Nigeria, Africa's most populous nation. Widespread violence by armed groups continues to threaten communities across the country.
