SpaceX, the rocket company owned by Elon Musk, has agreed to acquire his artificial intelligence firm, xAI. The move combines two of Musk's major technology ventures.
The deal is designed to support Musk's goal of leading both the space and AI industries. A key part of the plan is to use SpaceX's rockets to build advanced data centers in orbit.
These space-based data centers would support the development of "super-intelligent" AI. Musk has stated that such powerful AI systems may be safer if they operate away from Earth.
