The Turkish Cypriot leader, Tufan Erhurman, has presented a new 10-point proposal aimed at restarting talks to resolve the long-standing division of Cyprus. He announced the plan following a meeting with the Greek Cypriot leader in the UN-controlled buffer zone.
The proposal outlines a fresh framework to foster a sustainable solution for the island. Both communities have been separated since 1974.
This meeting represents a significant step in ongoing efforts to reunify Cyprus. The internationally recognized Republic of Cyprus governs the south, while the north operates as the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, recognized only by Turkey.
