Federal investigators have released dramatic photographs showing the UPS cargo plane moments before it crashed. The accident occurred near Louisville's Muhammad Ali International Airport in Kentucky.
The images come from the aircraft's flight data recorder. They depict the plane's final approach in darkness, with its landing gear not fully extended.
All three pilots on board the aircraft died in the incident. The crash also killed 11 people who were on the ground at the time.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is leading the investigation. Releasing these photos is a standard part of the agency's public investigative process.
