Singaporean Amos Yee has been released from a United States prison on parole. The Illinois Department of Corrections confirmed his release on November 20.
Yee, now 27, was serving a six-year sentence at the Danville Correctional Center. A US court convicted him in 2021 for possessing child pornography and grooming a minor.
Records show that authorities initially released Yee on November 7 but immediately returned him to custody. The reason for this brief return is not specified.
Yee is now a registered sex offender. This status is a standard legal requirement for individuals convicted of such crimes in the United States.
