French President Emmanuel Macron has pledged to fast-track a new law. It will ban social media access for all children under the age of 15.
The government aims to put the ban in place by September. This follows a similar move by Australia, which recently blocked under-16s from platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube without parental consent.
Macron also supports a separate ban on mobile phones in schools. The draft legislation will be submitted to the French parliament soon.
The plan highlights growing global concern about social media's impact on young people's mental health and safety.
