Former UK Home Secretary Suella Braverman has defected from the Conservative Party to the right-wing Reform UK party. She accused her former party of lying to voters about immigration.
Braverman is a prominent lawmaker and the latest high-profile Conservative to join Nigel Farage's Reform UK. The move comes as opinion polls show Reform UK leading both the governing Conservatives and the opposition Labour Party.
A national election is not expected until 2029. The two larger parties have dominated British politics for over a century.
