Somali Commandos Kill 28 Al-Shabab Fighters in Southern Offensive

Somali special forces have killed at least 28 fighters from the militant group Al-Shabab. The operation targeted remote areas near the Kudhaa district in southern Somalia. The elite Danab commandos led the mission. They were supported by the Darawish regional forces of Jubbaland state. Security officials announced the results on Sunday. The operations are part of a wider military campaign against Al-Shabab. Al-Shabab is an Islamist militant group. It has been fighting for control of Somalia for more than 15 years.
